Molly Flanagan Photography|Birth Photography Inspiration

I recently gave birth to my third child, Oliver.  Those first few days with a newborn are such a sleepless blur, I hardly remember them with my first two children.  So my plan was to document our stay in the hospital in hopes I would be able to look back at the pictures after life settled down.   However, having just given birth, I wasn’t feeling up to taking many pictures.  Our last morning in the hospital I spent about 15 minutes walking around the quiet room taking it all in.   Nine weeks later, I am so thankful I took the time to take them.  Looking at these pictures transports me back to that day.  The sounds and smells of the hospital, the exhaustion from being up all night with a hungry one day old, the anticipation of taking him home, knowing our lives were forever changed.    Oliver has already grown and changed so much, it is hard to imagine there was a time he wasn’t here!  I feel truly blessed to have photography as a passion, being able to creatively mark the momentous as well as the mundane moments in our life.

Gear I used:  Canon 5d mark II + 24mm f/1.4L.
