Tracey Barrow Photography|Self Portrait Inspiration

The images that I created for the self portrait project were usually inspired by lyrics that I heard, something that I saw that day or by roaming round my house looking for inspiration with objects! I didn’t want to simply take a shot of my face everyday so I tried to think outside of the box a little.  I like to try to evoke an emotion or a reaction with my images, laughter, sorrow etc something that makes you think. I tend not to do big write ups on them as I like them to be open to interpretation and I am always intrigued to hear what other people get from them!

As they were all self portraits I used a remote control shutter release device which had a focus lock on it.  I have a trusty Canon 5D Mark II and use a variety of lenses, although most of them I would say were shot with my favourite 24-70mm.  I did on occasion use a speed light off camera when the dark nights weren’t on my side or if I wanted a specific look.
