People that don’t have dogs may not realize that a dog can have MANY different expressions. This little girl, Gigi a 2 year old Shih Tzu, had a million of them…and don’t get me started on that head tilt! One of the tricks of pet photography is making intriguing noises to get the dog to perk up those ears and tilt their head to listen. I usually find myself making all sorts of silly noises in which only a few of the dogs respond, but not this girl! She made it easy for me as all I had to do was talk to her and she would turn her head almost upside down. It reminded me quite a bit of the owls that I used to train, except that this pup was much smarter then those owls. I hate to break it to any owl fans out there but that old adage “wise old owl” just isn’t true. If we had eyes as large as an owl’s, we would have grapefruits for eyes, which wouldn’t leave much room for a brain. Sorry, I digress to my previous career as an animal trainer and educator, let’s get back to the pet photography!
