Trinket & Pixie was partly born out of a need for my own photography props, (and partly because I always have had a huge need for a creative outlet)!  As a newborn photographer I was always searching for new and cute props to use in my sessions. One of my other long time passions, while NOT photographing EVERYTHING in sight, is knitting. I started knitting years ago when I was pregnant with my first baby. And while I just dabbled at it in the beginning and quickly became frustrated with never actually being able to finish projects, ( as a new mommy who has time?) I have kept up with it, and NOW……..you can’t stop me. I have a crazy and obsessive passion for colorful, hand dyed and hand spun merino wool yarns! As well as organic cotton and silk blends! Ohhhhhhh…..the texture and the colors! I LOVE to create props with anything soft and yummy I can get my hands on! My very first knitted hats project that  I learned on,  were hats that I was making for a charity for children with cancer. They desperately needed beanies! So during a very rare snow storm here in the Seattle area, I began knitting tons of hats. Then figuring the children would need some cheering up, I designed a few with add-ons and pretty embellishments. I fell in love with them. So…..Since I was knitting anyway, and since I also created a few as props for myself, the idea of Trinket & Pixie | knits n’ purls for wee ones was born! Every single item I knit and create is stitched with love and care, and positive thoughts are poured into each stitch! It sounds corny……but honestly as I knit, I imagine the babies that will wear them! Hand made with care and from the heart! Each item is OOAK ( one of a kind) and not mass produced! That is special & important to me!  I feel that it also helps being a newborn photographer, and being involved in the photography community, because I can envision how an item will look on a newborn, or know what the new and latest trends photographers are looking for. It inspires me!  I sometimes spend hours dreaming up new ideas and then knit into the early hours of the night! And I love what I do! I feel so blessed to be able to be a stay at home mom and pursue my passion for being creative.
