I love doing maternity sessions but I don’t get a lot of requests for them. This particular client is expecting her first child and she willing to do anything it took to get some fun, unusual shots, which I just loved of course!
We went to a little spot right down the road from my house and the early morning light combined with the fall colors was absolutely stunning.
Posing was a little challenging, as she really wanted her belly to look nice and big, so we made sure that her posture was always perfect to get that little belly showing nicely. By positioning her hands on and beneath her belly and having her arch her back just a little, we achieved a nice round belly and beautiful posture. I also instructed her to bring a number of different outfits which we went through together. We chose fitted tops and also added a belt to her dress to accentuate her baby bump even more. Accessories like a hat, scarf and jewelry finished the looks and the colors also complemented the scenery.
We ended the session with the images in the water and I’m so thankful we have had a warmer than usual fall in Ontario, or we might have both frozen!
I used my 24-70 2.8 lens for the water shots, although I still had to get in the water to get close enough. I wanted the walk bridge to frame the image, and I love how it makes her the focal point of those shots!
